The Kintyre Way Walk

From Tarbert to Skipness, then across Kintyre.

Tarbert and Argyll have long been associated with walks and walking, some choosing a leisurely stroll perhaps along a harbour, or up a hill to a viewpoint, others perhaps a walk along forestry to an unusual monument or object, or some a challenging hike across rough and tiring terrain.

Kintyre has had many long distance walks for some time, but more recently the Kintyre Way was formed.

The Kintyre Way is built up of numerous short walks (between 8 and 14 mile sections) which collectively join to form a walk which traverses and covers almost the entire Kintyre Peninsula.

The first stage of the walk starts in Tarbert from the harbour and up the hill by Tarbert Castle before up the hill and along the track with great views up Loch Fyne before passing over the hill and travelling down to Skipness some 8 miles later, with stunning views across to Arran. This sets the scene for what can be a rememberable walk on stretches across to Gigha and stunning sunsets, and down to Machrihanish where great golf courses are aplenty.
